Doha, March 15, 2015 – Project Qatar, the International Construction Technology and Building Materials Exhibition, has witnessed the remarkable development of Qatar’s construction industry ever since its founding in 2004. This year marks the exhibition’s 12th edition, held from 4 – 7 May at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). Project Qatar will continue to serve as an integral venue for professionals to network and explore the latest technology and materials for construction markets worldwide.
Over the past years, the presence of international attendees at Project Qatar has increased continuously. Well ahead of the 2015 exhibition, 19 pavilions are already confirmed to be present this year, representing countries such as Austria, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Jordan, KSA, Kuwait, Malaysia, Pakistan, Portugal, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. This year, Cyprus will, for the first time, be hosting a pavilion of its own, showcasing its many products and services. At least 34 previously participating countries will, moreover, return to this year’s exhibition, including, among others, Belgium, China, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Jordan, South Korea, Lebanon, Oman, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the United States of America.
The Italian delegation is among the longest standing attendees of Project Qatar, given its ongoing interest in and contributions to Qatar’s vibrant business landscape. Andrea Ferrari, the Italian Trade Commissioner, noted: “The Italian Pavilion offers to all the Italian Companies a joint communication platform under a national umbrella (ITALIA), giving more visibility to the SME’s, information to the media and to the Qatari companies about Italian products and services. This will have a big impact on the visibility of the Made in Italy and in the improvement of the businesses between both countries and it will be a great opportunity to be introduced to the Italian Excellence. In the incoming event, ITA – Italian Trade Agency will host 56 companies and associations under his umbrella. For more information be more than welcome to visit our stand (A 165 – ICE) during the exhibition.”
Both the expansion and international appeal of Project Qatar are not the only testaments to the exhibition’s significance for Qatar’s rapidly evolving construction industry. On the contrary, the generous contributions from local, regional and international supporting bodies speaks equally to Project Qatar’s vitality. As in the past, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce – committed to providing unique services to the Qatari private sector – remains among the exhibition’s critical partners. This year, it is joined in organizing pavilions by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Dubai Exports, Egypt Expo and Convention Authority, Enterprise Greece, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting, Italian Trade Agency, Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency, the Saudi Export Development Authority, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, UBIFRANCE, UK Trade and Investment and other contributors.
Firas Bin Abdul Aziz Aba Al-Khail, Marketing and Corporate Communications Director at the Saudi Export Development Authority (SEDA), confirmed that SEDA’s participation in Project Qatar’s 12th edition highlights how solid and big the GCC market is for Saudi building and construction products. The Saudi Pavilion will see 46 participating national factories. Through its participation in this exhibition, SEDA is looking forward to promote the Saudi building and construction materials exports to all GCC countries, in line with the growing demand for national products in the construction sector in the GCC market, driven by a wide range of development projects that have made it one of the most important strategic markets for Saudi building and construction materials.
As in previous years, a couple of events will be held concurrently to the 12th International Construction Technology and Building Materials Exhibition. Both “Qatar StoneTech 2015” – the 4th International Stone and Stone Technology Show – and “Heavy Max 2015” – the 12th International Exhibition for Heavy Machinery – will unfold from 4 – 7 May at the QNCC. While the former responds to steadily increasing demand for building materials worldwide, given estimated infrastructure investments worth $200bn over the next decade in Qatar alone, the latter reflects the $37m surge in demand for heavy equipment and machinery alike by 2015.
Considering that – over the coming years – Qatar will be hosting some of the world’s largest sporting events, is going to experience a persistent influx of expats, as it transforms into a knowledge-economy, and will welcome an ever-higher number of tourists, Project Qatar remains the kind of venue that assists Qatar in meeting its extensive infrastructure imperative.
