Project Qatar 2015 Concludes With Footfall of 32,000 Visitors, 830 B2B Meetings

Doha, May 17, 2015 – Project Qatar 2015, the 12th International Construction Technology and Building Materials Exhibition, concluded on 7 May with a footfall of 32,000 visitors and 830 B2B meetings. Moreover, the Project Qatar Business Intelligence Series will resume post-show, with three more conference to be held throughout the remainder of this year.

The 2015 exhibition, held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, hosted 1,130 exhibitors from 40 countries across 21 pavilions; 2,000 leading firms and brands were project qatar represented this year across 41,500 sqm of indoor and outdoor exhibition space. Over the course of four days, the exhibition featured a wide range of activities, including new workshops, site-tours of major local construction projects, specialized conferences and the two concurrent events Heavy Max 2015, the 12th International Exhibition for Heavy Machinery and Qatar Stone Tech 2015, the 4th International Stone and Stone Technology Show.

Building on 11 years of history, Project Qatar has become the largest construction exhibition in the country, and remains a gateway to the region. Having attracted a wide variety of exhibitors and visitors from across the world, Project Qatar again showcased state-of-the-art technology and provided insight into industry trends this year.

Project Qatar’s enhanced Business to Business (B2B) matchmaking platform enabled visitors to meet with companies, so to share best practices, explore the latest technology, and pursue business deals. 830 pre-arranged meetings took place during the exhibition, which speaks to the notable value Project Qatar creates for exhibitors, visitor and the State of Qatar.

IFP Qatar LLC, in collaboration with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, introduced the Project Qatar Workshop Series, informing about the commercial and educational aspects of the sector. Eight successful workshops covered an extensive array of topics, including issues confronting construction companies from a banking perspective, industry developments and opportunities as well as the transition toward PAS 99 Integrated Management Systems. Moderated by construction experts, these workshops were held in collaboration with governmental and semi-governmental entities, including the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, who drew from their wealth of experience.

International exhibitors again had an opportunity to assess insights gained through these and other activities firsthand through a number of site visits from 5 – 7 May. Delegations of 40 exhibitors each toured the Hamad New Port Project (HNPP), the Mall of Qatar construction site as well as Lusail City, all of which are among the largest infrastructure projects the sector currently features. These tours are especially valuable to international exhibitors, so to experience construction technology and materials firsthand, in one of the world’s most vibrant markets.

The Project Qatar Business Intelligence Series, which is held during Project Qatar and throughout the year, will resume with three more conferences this year: Future Interiors Qatar (7 – 8 September), Future project qatar 2015Landscape & Public Realm Qatar (26 – 27 October) and Future Drainage Networks Qatar (7 – 8 December). The topics these specialized conferences are going to address, respectively, are interior design and construction, sustainable and attractive outdoor environments as well as effective sewage and drainage networks.

Project Qatar will be back for its 13th edition from 2 – 5 May 2016.
